Bowling Green is a thriving university town, with a downtown featuring an impressive array of shops and restaurants. Grounds for Thought is a favorite for BGSU students and faculty alike--it not only serves as a coffee shop, with hand-roasted coffee and pastries, but is a fully functioning used-book and record store as well. (It’s three stores in one!) Bowling Green's independent music store, Finders Records, offers patrons a diverse selection of vinyl, CDs, and DVDs across music genres. A must-shop for conference attendees! For basic needs, gifts, and craft supplies, visit the dime-store Ben Franklin on Main Street. Other unique gift shops include For Keeps and Calico, Sage & Thyme, and you can also find a hat shop and quilt shop nearby. The natural café Squeakers sells organic foods and handmade gifts, as well. The Happy Badger includes a café and gift shop, Saturday jazz brunches, and a Sunday open mic. All of these options are located on or near Main Street and adjacent to campus, easily accessible and close to the restaurants listed on this page. If you are looking for night life, there are several options around BG. Main Street boasts several nice establishments for evening fun. The Clazel is a recently converted theater and has an amazing assortment of microbrew and specialty beers and a nice selection of wine. A must see for downtown BG! The lounge above the Italian restaurant, DiBenedetto's, is also quite nice.
