Places to Eat

Food in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union (BTSU):
There are several options including a Pub that is open until 11pm on both Friday and Saturday. There is also a Starbucks for all of your caffeine needs.

Link to all of the food choices and hours of operation for the BTSU can be found here.

For those of you attending Saturday, April 9th, you may want to attend and eat dinner at the Caribfest (an annual meeting of the Caribbean Association at BGSU). They will be selling tickets for $8 for Jamaican food (from a Jamaican restaurant in Toledo named Dexter's). The event is being held in Olscamp Room 101A. (Directions will be provided at the conference. It is a short walk from the BTSU).

Bowling Green may be small but it does offer some rather nice places to eat and they are all relatively close to campus. Almost everything is about a 15 to 20 minute walk (or a very quick drive) from the Bowen-Thompson Student Union (BTSU).

Here are our suggestions:

Naslada (Bulgarian fare)
They have a nice selection of both veg and non-veg options. We recommend the moussaka, the stroganoff, and the many delicious salads they have.

Grounds for Thought (coffee shop/record store/book shop/all around awesome place)
This is a great coffee shop and so much more.

Call of the Canyon Cafe
(a lovely sandwich place)
They are open for lunch and dinner and they have both veg and non-veg options. A nice place for a good sandwich and don't forget PIE!

Happy Badger Cafe (a nice lunch place and good for tea)
They have sandwiches (made with Zingerman's breads), soups, and lots of veggie options.

These chain restaurants can be found downtown as well: Qdoba and Panera Bread.

A little further from downtown is a take out place offering wonderful Middle Eastern food. A short drive from school, South Side Six, is worth the trip. Great falafel and shwarma! Address: 737 South Main Street

Finally, don't hesitate to ask any of the locals for directions, suggestions, etc.

THIS MAP WILL GET YOU DOWNTOWN TO MOST OF THE SUGGESTED RESTAURANTS, SHOPS, ETC.
